1848 Paris Revolution

Watercolours derived from posters made during the 1848 Paris Revolution. Text, layout and typefaces are taken from Les Murailles Révolutionnaires, a publication from 1851 that comprehensively collected all posters, manifestos, revolutionary club membership cards and tokens, declarations of candidacy, etc., that were distributed or pasted on walls during the uprising.

1871 Paris Commune

A group of watercolors that superimpose lyrics by anarcho-punk band Crass and statements by the great anarchists of the 1871 Paris Commune, Louise Michel and August Blanqui. In Blanqui’s case the Crass lyrics are superimposed on a story Walter Benjamin tells about the anarchist leader secretly reviewing his anarchist troops on the Champs-Élysées.
