Norwegian philosopher and ‘deep ecology’ advocate Arne Naess wrote this essay ‘An Example of a Place—Tvergastein’ about the precarious hut he built on the side of Hallingskarvet mountain, well above the tree line. A wonderful piece about managing with next to nothing and living in ways that have minimal impact on the immediate environment.
